This course was written in the WIDS (Worldwide Instructional Design System) format using performance-based instruction principles. In this educational approach, apprentices are the most important part of instruction. When designing performance-based instruction, course developers carefully identify what apprentices need to be able to do as a result of the instructional experience. Next they determine how apprentices can show that they have learned these skills. Finally, they plan learning activities that help apprentices develop the skills.
