Student FAQ

What is Continuing Education?
Continuing Education includes courses and classes outside of the degree-seeking education system that anyone can take (depending on the class eligibility requirements) in order to learn new skills or refresh current skills. These classes provide skills training, certificates, and industry certification and are ideal for entry-level training, career changes, professional skills advancement, and credential updates.

Who is eligible to take Continuing Education classes?
Classes are open to people of high-school age and older, unless otherwise indicated in the course description. Please call our registration staff at Registration@cvtc.edu or 715-852-1360 with any questions on enrollment eligibility.

How do I register for a class?
Select the "all courses" link or use the search function to browse through our course offerings. Multiple classes can be added the shopping cart and registered for at the same time. Registration check-out is completed via our secure server.

How do I know how much my class costs?
There is not a standard cost for a Continuing Education course. The cost of each class will display in the class information screen. This screen will also allow you to view all of the other details such as dates, times, materials, and location. After adding a class to your shopping cart, you will be able to view the total cost prior to completing the check-out process.

How do I pay for my class?
Payment in full is required at the time of registration for Continuing Education classes by credit card. If you cannot pay with a credit card, please visit us in person. If your registration will be paid by your employer, you can select that option at the time of check-out and a request will be made to your employer to approve your registration. Or, your employer can register and pay for you through their own Company portal.

Inclement weather
CVTC does its best to notify students of weather related cancellations in a timely manner; however, due to unforeseen circumstances we are not always able to contact all students. Please listen to local radio and TV news stations for information about closings. Classes that are cancelled because of inclement weather are rescheduled.

Financial Aid for Continuing Education courses
All Continuing Education classes are non-Program seeking courses and therefore are not eligible for Financial Aid through CVTC.

Withdrawing from a class
If you need to cancel your registration, you need to contact us. For courses in Fire; Law Enforcement; EMS; CPR; Traffic Safety; OWI Offender; and Motorcycle, contact Registration@cvtc.edu or 715-852-1360. For all other courses, contact WorkforceSolutions@cvtc.edu or 715-874-4676. You are not able to drop classes on your own. A full refund will be made to any student who notifies CVTC at least 48 hours prior to the class start. At that time a member of the CVTC team would be pleased to assist you in transferring your registration to another course that fits into your schedule. There are no refunds or transfers allowed if you notify CVTC after the 48 hours prior to the class start.

What is the refund policy?
CVTC’s Continuing Education refund policy differs depending on the type of class. Due to emergency calls and situations, our emergency services classes and trainings are refunded differently than other Continuing Education classes. Generally, refunds will be given if a student contacts CVTC 48 hours before the start date of the class. Other refund policies may apply if you are registered in a Group Dynamics/OWI Offender course, as these are court-ordered.

What information is required to complete my profile?
CVTC wants to ensure that your records are accurate. In order to do so, it is necessary to require specific identifying information to match your educational records to you. This information is not shared with outside entities and will not be used for anything other than record identification. Can I register for a class that is full?
All classes have a maximum class size that must be adhered to. If you wish to be considered for registration in a class that is currently full, you can request to be added to a waiting list by signing in online and clicking “Add to the Waiting List” link for the class that is full. If an opening becomes available, you will be notified to finalize your registration. Placing your name on a waiting list does not guarantee a spot in the class. Extra seats will not be added to classes and exceptions will not be made.
