Student FAQ
What is Continuing Education?
Continuing Education includes courses and classes outside of the degree-seeking education system that anyone can take (depending on the class eligibility requirements) in order to learn new skills or refresh current skills. These classes provide skills training, certificates, and industry certification and are ideal for entry-level training, career changes, professional skills advancement, and credential updates.
Who is eligible to take Continuing Education classes?
Classes are open to people of high-school age and older, unless otherwise indicated in the course description. Please call our registration staff at Registration@cvtc.edu or 715-852-1360 with any questions on enrollment eligibility.
How do I register for a class?
Select the "all courses" link or use the search function to browse through our course offerings. Multiple classes can be added to the shopping cart and registered for at the same time. Registration check-out is completed via our secure server.
How do I know how much my class costs?
The cost of each class will display in the class information screen. This screen will also allow you to view all of the other details such as dates, times, materials, and location. After adding a class to your shopping cart, you will be able to view the total cost prior to completing the check-out process.
How do I pay for my class?
Payment in full is required at the time of registration for Continuing Education classes by credit card. If you cannot pay with a credit card, please visit us in person. If your registration will be paid by your employer, you can select that option at the time of check-out and a request will be made to your employer to approve your registration. Or your employer can register and pay for you through their own Company portal.
Inclement weather
CVTC does its best to notify students of weather-related cancellations in a timely manner; however, due to unforeseen circumstances we are not always able to contact all students. Please listen to local radio and TV news stations for information about closings. Classes that are cancelled because of inclement weather are rescheduled.
Financial Aid for Continuing Education courses
All Continuing Education classes are non-Program seeking courses and therefore are not eligible for Financial Aid through CVTC.
Withdrawing from a class
We would be happy to issue a full refund for any student who notifies CVTC at least 48 hours prior to the start date of the class. There are no refunds or transfers allowed if you notify CVTC after the 48 hours prior to the class start. For Group Dynamics and Multiple Offender courses, no refunds are given. For a refund or transfer, please contact Records & Registration at Registration@cvtc.edu or 715-852-1360.
What information is required to complete my profile?
CVTC wants to ensure that your records are accurate. In order to do so, it is necessary to require specific identifying information to match your educational records to you. This information includes name, date of birth, email address, personal mailing address, and phone number. This information is not shared with outside entities and will not be used for anything other than record identification. Other information that is collected at the time of profile creation is necessary to report to the Wisconsin Technical College System as well as other reporting entities to measure CVTC's performance and services to students. CVTC does not sell or rent student information to solicitors. CVTC is bound by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 which protects the privacy of educational records and governs the release and access of student educational records. If you have any questions about FERPA or how your information will be used, please contact Records & Registration at 715-852-1360.
How do I print a receipt?
To print a receipt, sign in and select "My Transactions" from the menu bar on the left side of the screen and locate the class. Under "Action", select "Print View" and print your receipt.
How do I print a transcript?
To print a current, unofficial transcript of classes, sign in and select "My Transcript" from the menu bar on the left side of the screen. In the upper left corner select “Print View” to print your transcript. Please note that this is an unofficial transcript. To obtain an official transcript, please contact us at 715-833-6200.
Can I register for a class that is full?
All classes have a maximum class size that must be adhered to. If you wish to be considered for registration in a class that is currently full, you can request to be added to a waiting list by signing in online and clicking “Add to the Waiting List” link for the class that is full. If an opening becomes available, you will be notified to finalize your registration. Placing your name on a waiting list does not guarantee a spot in the class. Extra seats will not be added to classes and exceptions will not be made.
Disability and accommodations
Reasonable accommodations are made for students who need them. Please contact us at WorkforceSolutions@cvtc.edu at least five business days prior to the date of training if a disability accommodation is needed.
Company FAQ
How does our company get a profile?
You must have a company profile set up by CVTC in order to register employees into a class, using a company invoice for payment. Please call us at 715-874-4676 for assistance in creating or accessing a profile for your company.
How do I register employees?
If you are a company representative wishing to register individuals from your business, a profile must be created for each employee and must contain a name, email, and date of birth. The employee can then be registered for courses using this profile. An employee profile needs only be created once.

We would be happy to issue a full refund for any student who notifies CVTC at least 48 hours prior to the start date of the class.
