BLUE TEST. The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) is the national standard in the fire service for physical entry exams. Chippewa Valley Technical College's (CVTC) Regional Fire Department Hiring Process requires candidates to take the CPAT through CVTC and does not accept CPAT certifications from other test sites. Per International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) rules, there are two orientation offerings where candidates can become familiar with the process with CPAT staff.
