This is a training requirement for Firefighter I & II. First responders at the operational level are part of the initial response to a hazardous substance release for the purpose of protecting people, property, and the environment. Concepts are provided on procedures, usage, and related considerations, following the basic chronology of a hazardous materials incident. The underlying themes include personal safety and self-defense, first responder roles in emergency response systems, the diverse nature of hazardous material incidents and related defensive measures.
