P.I.T. training offered at CVTC is a 6-hour class that covers both the legal and technical aspects of this DOJ-approved intervention option. In addition to learning how to apply the P.I.T. maneuver properly, the follow-through or follow-up tactic of T.V.I. (Tactical Vehicle Intervention) is included in the training. T.V.I. instructs the officers in the proper method of containing the vehicle and suspect once P.I.T. has been used and is a technique that ends the pursuit in a safe, controlled manner. Officers should bring assigned squads; however all P.I.T. maneuvers will be conducted using CVTC fleet vehicles. Agency fleets will be used during the T.V.I. portion of the training. No firearms or live ammunition are allowed on the driving range.
Restricted to employed/certified law enforcement officers.
