This course is designed for the working adult. If you are a CVTC degree or certificate-seeking student, this course does not satisfy those requirements. This American Heart Association course includes instruction for the person who has little or no medical background. The student will learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult, child, and infant. Included in this training is the use of the automated external defibrillator and techniques to assist a choking victim. This course also includes first aid basics - checking for scene safety, finding the problem and accessing EMS. Medical emergencies are covered along with injury emergencies such as bleeding, broken bones and burns. Heat and cold emergencies and actions for bites and stings (including use of epinephrine injector) are also a part of this training geared toward the person with little or no medical background.
