Today’s dental professionals must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the hygiene profession including local anesthetic administration to provide pain and anxiety management for the dental patient. Completion of this certificate qualifies the student to apply for state certification to administer local anesthesia through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, Dentistry Examining Board.
In this course, participants will be able to:
• Manage and prevent common medical emergencies
• Review anatomical landmarks
• Learn pharmacology of various injectable anesthetics
• Gain hands-on lab experience with armamentarium and the administration of local anesthetic for both maxillary and mandibular injection techniques
This HYBRID course requires dental professionals to complete 16 hours of learning activities prior to the hands-on clinical experience.
