The Emergency Medical Responder (also referred to as First Responder) is an EMS provider that often is the first trained person on the scene to provide care prior to the arrival of an ambulance. This course includes training in the following areas: patient assessment, CPR, airway management with the use of an advanced airway, bleeding, and soft tissue care, spinal immobilization, use of epinephrine for anaphylaxis, and completion of state-required Weapons of Mass Destruction module. Used for this training is the most current Wisconsin-approved curriculum that adheres to National EMS Education Standards. Current textbooks and materials are required.
